R-99-10 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING FOUR OPEN SPACE AREAS AS CITY PARKS WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has requested that the Council of the City of Fairfax officially designate the following areas: Fairfax Oaks, Parcel A (Tax Map # 48 3 08 06 000 A); parcel located between Old Lee Highway to Pickett Road (Tax Map # 48 3 02 014 B); parcel located between Chain Bridge Road and the entrance of Van Dyck Park, parallelling Kenmore Drive and University Drive to the north and Fairfax Mews and Layton Hall Apartments to the south (Tax Map location 57-2, not identified with tax map number); parcel located between Hallman Street east to the area identified as Church Street (behind Fairfax Presbyterian Church) (Tax Map location 57-1, not identified with tax map number), as City parks; and, WHEREAS, each of these parcels is owned by the City and has a trail through the parcel and is part of the City's trail system; and, WHEREAS, each of these parcels is currently designated as open space and would be better represented by identification as a City park; and, WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board to have the City Council task the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board with recommending names for each of these parcels, due to the City Council by May 15, 1999, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Fairfax officially designates the parcels listed above as City parks, effective this day, March 23, 1999. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is tasked to recommend to the City Council names for each of the above named parcels by May 15, 1999.
