RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE REQUEST OF CHRIST
LUTHERAN CHURCH, FOR A SPECIAL EXCEPTION TO
CHAPTER 26 OF THE CITY CODE ON THE PREMISES KNOWN
AS 10800 LEE HIGHWAY (CROWN SERVICE STATION), AND
MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED AS TAX MAP PARCEL 57-1-
((2))-52.
WHEREAS, Christ Lutheran Church has submitted Application No. SE-202-
97-1 requesting a Special Exception to the City Code listed below:
Section 26-43-(a)(1) - All signs are deemed to be accessory to
the principal use and shall be located entirely on the same lot
as the principal use, except as provided in Section 26-45
(temporary signs).
WHEREAS, City Council has determined that the proposed Special
Exception is appropriate because the proposal meets the requisites established by
City of Fairfax Code Section 26-48 and Section 26-103(c) for the following reasons:
(a)
Will not result in increased traffic congestion or otherwise
negatively impact existing traffic flow or pedestrian and
vehicular safety;
(b) Will not be contrary to the objectives specified in the
Comprehensive Plan;
(c) Is necessary to permit the reasonable use of the subject
property; and
(d) Will not adversely impact adjacent property or the
surrounding area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax on this 9th day of September, that Application No. SE-202-97-1 be and
hereby is APPROVED with the following conditions:
The sign shall be located as shown on the site plan received by
the Department of Community Development and Planning on
June 4, 1997, without substantial modification or removal of
the existing landscaping.

The sign face shall be designed consistent with the
specifications of the sign plan prepared by Crown Central
Petroleum and dated March 17, 1997.
o
The sign message shall be limited to the church name, logo
and the acronym for the "Evangelical Lutheran Church of
America" (ELCA).
