A RESOLUTION RENAMING THE RELOCATED
PORTION OF UNIVERSITY DRIVE BETWEEN
ARMSTRONG STREET AND THE SOUTH CITY
LINE AS GEORGE MASON BOULEVARD
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is constructing a new road
segment to relocate traffic from the existing University
Drive; and
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted a resolution on January
23, 1996, requesting the Virginia Department of
Transportation to program the project and listing
preferred design options;
WHEREAS, one of the reasons for constructing this road is
to strengthen the bond between the City and George Mason
University; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of
the City of Fairfax to rename the relocated section of
University Drive between Armstrong Street and the south
City line as GEORGE MASON BOULEVARD.
