RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION ALLOW THE CITY OF FAIRFAX TO EXPEDITE THE
FUNDING OF LEE HIGHWAY ROAD AND STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS
THROUGH THE USE OF THE ANNUAL CONSTRUCTION ALLOCATION
MONIES AS THE SOURCE FOR BOND REPAYMENT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fairfax has requested on November 25,
1997, the inclusion of the Lee Highway roadway improvements from Eaton place to Chain
Bridge Road in the Virginia Department of Transportation Six-Year Improvement Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax wishes to utilize up to 33% of its urban allocation
to expedite the funding of the Lee Highway Improvement Project in accordance with
!Section 33.1-23.3B of the State Code;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia meeting in regular session this 25m day of November, 1997, hereby
requests the Virginia Department of Transportation to approve the use of the City's urban
allocation funds to repay the bond debt of an estimated $5.7 M for this project thus
allowing the City of Fairfax to expedite the project; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Fairfax hereby requests that the
Vh'ginia Department of Transportation prepare the necessary agreements to be executed by
the City and the Department in support of this funding proposal.
