19960514 r-96-15RESOLUTION NO. R-96-15 Resolution to Establish Human Services Committee WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council recognize the inherent benefit of citizen input to the effective design and delivery of a wide spectrum of human services to the citizens of the City of Fairfax; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council believe that the individ- ual representatives of the City on regional and county boards and commissions are in a good position to examine the current human services delivery system; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council believe that the regular opportunity for collaboration among these representatives could enhance and support their positions on behalf of the City, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council do hereby establish the City of Fairfax Human Services Advisory Committee and do charge it with the following: To advise the Mayor and Council on matters relating to the current delivery of human services in the City of Fairfax. To investigate the emerging trends of human service needs within the City. To identify any unmet human service needs within the City. To carry out such other functions as directed by the Mayor and City Council that may further the purpose of this resolution; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Committee shall meet quarterly with staff support provided by the City Human Services Coordinator. Each year a chairman shall be named from among the Committee members. The Committee shall consist of two at-large members to be appointed by Council for a three year term and the City's represen- tative on the: Fairfax Area Agency on Aging Fairfax Alcohol Safety Action Program Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board Health Systems Agency Woodburn Center for Community Mental Health Advisory Board Fairfax Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Advisory Board Fairfax Area Disability Services Board Fairfax County Commission on Organ and Tissue Donation Adopted this 14th day of May 1996.
