TASKING THE CITY ATTORNEY
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fairfax is attempting
to obtain the most efficient use of legal services provided by the
City Attorney and
WHEREAS, legal costs are directly related to type and volume
of requests.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
Requests for legal services, other than routine or explanatory
information, by a Council member or members shall be coor-
dinated through the City Manager. On matters of an individual
nature, such as possible conflict of interest or other similar
matters, Council members may contact the City Attorney
directly.
Legal services for boards, commissions and committees, other
than routine legal and explanatory services, shall be dis-
cussed by an authorized representative (normally the chair or
staff representative) of the board, commission or committee
with the City Manager prior to requesting legal assistance.
Further, the City Manager shall maintain a brief record of the
requests and shall keep the Council informed of such requests.
