19960910 r-96-43RESOLUTION NO. R-96-43 RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE REQUEST OF FAIRFAX BANK AND TRUST (NOW KNOWN AS FARMERS AND MERCHANTS BANK OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA) BY CHARLES E. CURTIS, VICE-PRESIDENT, FOR A SPECIAL EXCEPTION TO CHAPTER 26 OF THE CITY CODE ON THE PREMISES KNOWN AS THE FB&T BUILDING, 4117 CHAIN BRIDGE ROAD, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED AS TAX MAP PARCEL 57-4-((2))-41. WHEREAS, Fairfax Bank and Trust, by Charles E. Curtis, Vice-President, has submitted Application No. SE-179-96-1 requesting Special Exceptions to the City Code as listed below: Section 26-44(b)(2)(c)(1) - to allow three building identification signs on a single lot multi-tenant commercial building (where one building identification sign is permitted), and to exceed the 50-square-foot maximum sign area allowed. Section 26-43(b)(2) - to allow sign illumination within 100 feet of a residential district where illuminated signage is prohibited. WHEREAS, City Council has determined that the proposed Special Exceptions, as modified, meet the requisites established by City of Fairfax Code Section 26-48 and Section 26-103(c) and are appropriate because the proposal: 1. Is consistent with the size and style of the existing signage; 2. Will not have an adverse affect on the surrounding area; o Is consistent with the purpose of the sign ordinance as stated in City Code Section 26-40; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax on this 10th day of September, 1996, that Application No. SE-179-96-1 be and hereby is APPROVED with the following modifications: FB&T building identification signs. The combined square footage of sign area for the three signs shall not exceed a maximum of 63 square feet which is the R-96-43 -2 o The number of building identification signs shall be limited to three and shall be located in the same position as the existing FB&T building identification signs. The combined square footage of sign area for the three signs shall not exceed a maximum of 63 square feet which is the area of the existing FB&T signs. Illumination of the building identification signs shall be permitted. ATTEST:
