A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE
VIRGINIA MAIN STREET PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Virginia Main Street Program has been establishe¢
in the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development t¢
assist cities and towns in developing a public/private effort t¢
revitalize their downtown commercial areas; and
WHEREAS, up to four Virginia cities and/or towns will bE
selected to participate in the program for a three-year period; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax desires to participate in
Virginia Main Street Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Cit,
of Fairfax, Virginia:
SECTION 1. That the City of Fairfax applies for selection
participate in the 1995 Virginia Main Street Program with tk
specific goal of economically revitalizing the designated Ma~
Street project area within the context of historic preservation.
SECTION 2. That the City of Fairfax guarantees that a Main Street
Program Director will be employed and an adequate program operati~
budget supplied for five years.
