A RESOLUTION DELEGATING TO THE CITY MANAGER
CERTAIN AUTHORITY REGARDING THE CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE
WHEREAS, the George Mason University (the "University"), the
City of Fairfax, Virginia (the "City"), and the George Mason
University Foundation (the "Foundation"), have agreed to engage in
certain cooperative activities which activities constitute the
Center for Excellence (the "Center"); and
WHEREAS, such entities have agreed to execute a Memorandum of
Understanding (the "MOU") which describes the understandings among
such entities regarding the Center; and
WHEREAS,.by this Resolution, the city Council delegates to the
City Manager various duties and responsibilities of the City
regarding the Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Fairfax, Virginia that:
1. The City Manager is authorized to provide to the Center
information and assistance, as permitted by law, and as is
reasonably necessary, as determined by the city Manager, to
accomplish the Center's purposes of promoting the resources and
advantages of the City and enhancing the future health, safety and
welfare of its citizens.
2. The city Manager further is authorized to apply, on
behalf of the City, to public and private entities for grants which
are to be used for the purposes of the Center.
3. Nothing herein shall be construed to abrogate any
requirement of official action by the City Council regarding the
Center, which action is otherwise required by law.
