19940726 r-94-34RESOLUTION NO. R-94-34 ESTABLISHING A STORMWATER CAPITAL FACILITIES FINANCING TASK FORCE WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax has long standing problems created by increased stormwater runoff throughout the city; and WHEREAS, the runoff leads to excessive erosion of creeks, loss of trees and vegetation, localized flooding, sediment build up, loss of property and negative environmental effects; and WHEREAS, if unchecked, these problems could lead to major disaster during extreme storm events, continue to add to the pollution of the Chesapeake Bay, hinder future economic development in the city and deteriorate the quality of life for the residents; and WHEREAS, the city desires to solve these problems in a cost- effective and financially sound way while protecting and enhancing the environment; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a Stormwater Capital Facilities Financing Task Force is hereby established for the purpose of developing recommendations for the City Council regarding the financing of stormwater improvement projects; such recommendations to be provided to city Council by October, 1994. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said group shall be composed of no more than ten members appointed by the City Council representing residential and business interests; with the chair to be appointed by the Mayor with the concurrence of Council.
