19930209 r-93-4RESOLUTION NO. R-93-4 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO THE VIRGINIA PUBLIC SCHOOL AUTHORITY (VPSA) FOR FINANCING PROJECTS FOR SCHOOL PURPOSES THROUGH THE SALE OF VPSA BONDS. WHEREAS, the Fairfax City School Board has determined that there is a continued need to improve Lanier Intermediate School by developing a large group instruction space now known as an auditorium; and WHEREAS, the original auditorium design, estimated at $500,000, has doubled in size in order to accommodate student performing groups and seat a larger audience, a need exists for an additional $550,000; and WHEREAS, by Resolution adopted on February 1, 1993, the Fairfax City School Board authorized the Superintendent to apply, on behalf of the School Board, to the Virginia Public School Authority (VPSA) to obtain funds in the amount of ~IVE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARR ($550,000) from the VPSA 1993 Series A Spring Bond Sale for financing the above described addition to Lanier Intermediate School; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax that the Council authorizes the City Manager to execute and forward to the VPSA an application to participate in the VPSA 1993 Series A Spring Bond Sale in an amount not to exceed ~IVE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($550 000) for school purposes.
