RESOLUTION TO REFER TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION
FOR REVIEW, PUBLIC HEARING AND RECOMMENDATION
A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 26, ARTICLE I,
SECTION 26-4, DEFINITIONS, ARTICLE XII, C-1 OFFICE
COMMERCIAL DISTRICT, ARTICLE XII, C-2 RETAIL
COMMERCIAL DISTRICT .AND ARTICLE XIV, C-3 GENERAL
COMMERCIAL DISTRICT CONCERNING ENTERTAINMENT,
AMUSEMENT MACHINES AND ANCILLARY AMUSEMENT
MACHINES.
WHEREAS, the possibilities for incorporating entertainment such as
musical or dramatic performances, amusement machine and ancillary
amusement machine uses into businesses in the commercial districts are very
limited in the current ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the performance of businesses which currently include
amusement machines has been exemplary for several years; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to retain the existing
businesses which feature amusement machines and provide the possibility for
the uses of entertainment and amusement machines in new businesses in the
commercial districts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Fairfax, Virginia, refer to the Planning Commission for review,
preparation, public hearing and recommendation proposed amendments to
Chapter 26, Article I, Section 26-4, Definitions, Article XII, C-1 Office
Commercial District, Article XII, C-2 Retail Commercial District and Article
XIV, C-3 General Commercial District concerning amusement machines and
ancillary amusement machines.
