RESOLUTION TO REFER TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR
REVIEW, PUBLIC HEARING AND RECOMMENDATION A
PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 26, ARTICLE I, SECTION
26-4, DEFINITIONS; ARTICLE II, DIVISION 6, OFF-STREET
PARKING AND LOADING; ARTICLE III, R-1 RESIDENTIAL
DISTRICT; ARTICLE IX, P-D PLANNED DEVELOPMENT
DISTRICT; AND ARTICLE X, C-P-D COMMERCIAL PLANNED
DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT CONCERNING BED AND
BREAKFAST INNS IN SELECTED AREAS
WHEREAS, bed and breakfast inns currently are not permitted in
the City's residential or commercial districts: and
WHEREAS, the operation and location of bed and breakfast inns
can be regulated so that the integrity of established residential areas is
protected; and
WHEREAS, there are desirable areas within the City for such
establishments; and
WHEREAS, the addition of bed and breakfast inns to selected areas
will increase location and use choices for entrepreneurs wishing to
conduct business within the City, thereby contributing to the
implementation of economic development goals;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Fairfax, Virginia, refer to the Planning Commission for review,
preparation, public hearing and recommendation proposed amendments
to Chapter 26, Article I, Section 26-4; Article II, Division 6, Off-street
Parking and Loading; Article III, R-2 Residential District; Article IX, P-D
Planned Development District; and Article X,
C-P-D Commercial Planned Development District concerning the location
and operation of bed and breakfast inns in selected areas.
ADOPTED this 13th day of April, 1993.
