RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT
FOR NORTHERN VIRGINIA GRADUATE CENTER RELOCATION
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is committed, through its
Comprehensive Plan, to expand educational opportunities by
cooperative development of programs with nearby colleges and
universities; and
WHEREAS, the relocation of the Northern Virginia Graduate
Center to the City of Fairfax will provide an economic stimulus to
City businesses and supports the City's Comprehensive Plan for
developing a "business boulevard"; and
WHEREAS, the City is on record in a joint proposal with Turner
Harwood Ventures to construct a building for the Northern Virginia
Graduate Center in the WillowWood Plaza; and
WHEREAS, the relocation of the Northern Virginia Graduate
Center to the City of Fairfax will enhance the strong academic
community in Fairfax;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Fairfax
encourages the Northern Virginia Graduate Center to relocate to
Fairfax; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Fairfax encourages
the relocation of the Northern Virginia Graduate Center to the City
of Fairfax and is prepared to support the Center with a comprehen-
sive package of financial incentives and cooperative initiatives.
