A RESOLUTION TO REFER TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION
FOR REVIEW, PUBLIC HEARING AND RECOMMENDATION
PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO CHAPTER 26, ARTICLE III, R-1
RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT; ARTICLE IV, R-2 RESIDENTIAL
DISTRICT; ARTICLE V, R-3 RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT; ARTICLE
XII, C-1 OFFICE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT; ARTICLE XIII, C-2
RETAIL COMMERCIAL DISTRICT; AND ARTICLE XIV, C-3
GENERAL COMMERCIAL DISTRICT,
WHEREAS, the public convenience and good zoning practice justify
review and possible changes to zoning procedures and categories; and
WHEREAS, changes in permitted uses and the review thereof will
facilitate efficient review and approval of procedures and free the City
Council to focus on broader policy issues;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Fairfax, Virginia, refer to the Planning Commission for review,
preparation, public hearing and recommendation proposed amendments to
Chapter 26 Article III, R-1 Residential District; Article IV, R-2 Residential
District; Article V, R-3 Residential District; Article XII, C-1 Office
Commercial District; Article XIII, C-2 Retail Commercial District; and Article
XIV, C-3 General Commercial District, concerning permitted uses, review of
Special Use Permits and Special Exceptions and criteria for the approval
thereof.
