A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE VIRGINIA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO ESTABLISH
A PROJECT FOR THE UPGRADE OF THE CITY OF FAIREAX
COMPUTERIZED TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM
WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of Transportation
construction allocation procedures, it is necessary that a request by council
resolution be made in order that the department progrmn an urban highway
project in the City of Fairfax;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
Fairfax, Virginia requests the Virginia Department of Transportation to establish
a project for the upgrade of traffic signal equipment in the City of Fairfax.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that if the council of the City of Fairfax
hereby agrees to pay its share of the total cost for preliminary engineering, right-
of-way and construction of this project in accordance with Section 33.1-44 of the
Code of Virginia, and that, if the city subsequently elects to cancel this project,
the city hereby agrees to reimburse the Department of Transportation for the total
amount of any costs expended by the department for this project through the date
the department is notified of such cancellation.
