R-92-1 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO THE VIRGINIA PUBLIC SCHOOL AUTHORITY (VPSA) FOR FINANCING PROJECTS FOR SCHOOL PURPOSES THROUGH THE SALE OF VPSA BONDS WHEREAS, the Fairfax City School Board has determined that there is a continued need to improve Lanier Intermediate School by renovating the media center and physical education locker rooms and to develop a large group instructional space; WHEREAS, Fairfax City School Board desires to address Fairfax High School's physical educational needs by renovating the tennis courts, replacing the fieldhouse floor, giving a new treatment to the auxiliary gym floor and replacing a section of bleachers on the football field; WHEREAS, Fairfax City School Board requires funds for replacement of underground oil tanks at five school sites within the City; WHEREAS, by resolution adopted on January 13, 1992, the Fairfax City School Board authorized the Superintendent to apply, on behalf of the School Board, to the Virginia Public School Authority (VPSA) to obtain funds in the amount of ONE ~ILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,500,000) from the VPSA 1992 Series A Spring Bond Sale for financing the above described additions and renovations to Lanier Intermediate School and improvements and renovations to Fairfax High School and oil tank replacements. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax that the Council authorizes the City Manager to execute and forward to the VPSA an application to participate in the VPSA 1992 Series A Spring Bond Sale in an amount not to exceed ONE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,500,000) for school purposes.
