RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE REQUEST OF MONTGOMERY
WARD & COMPANY, INC., BY NORMAN E. ABPLANALP,
CORPORATE ARCHITECT AND AGENT, FOR SPECIAL
EXCEPTIONS TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX,
VIRGINIA, FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT FAIRFAX COURT,
11284 JAMES SWART CIRCLE, TAX MAP PARCEL, 56-2-((2))-1
AND 2.
WHEREAS, Montgomery Ward & Company, Inc., by Norman Abplanalp,
Corporate Architect and Agent, has submitted application No. SE-99-92-1 requesting a
Special Exception to the City Code listed below:
Section 26-44Co)(2)a2a to permit the display of signage in excess of the
permitted 150 square feet and on building walls not defined as building
frontage.
WHEREAS, City Council has determined that the proposed Special Exception
is appropriate because the proposal as described in application No. SE-99-92-1 meets
the requisites established by City of Fairfax Code Sections 26-48 and 26-103(c) for the
following reasons:
The large size of the building and its visibility to three arterial streets
presents a unique situation.
The granting of Special Exceptions to allow display of signage on the
faces of the building visible from the three arterials is consistent with
previously approved sign special exceptions.
No negative impacts are anticipated as a result of granting the Special
Exceptions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax on this 8th day of September, 1992, that application No. SE-99-92-1 be and
hereby is APPROVED.
