IN HONOR OF WALTER A. SCHEIBER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS
WHEREAS, Walter A. Scheiber has served as the Executive
Director of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments
(COG) for 25 years; and
WHEREAS, under his leadership and through his efforts COG has
become an effective forum for discussing and resolving regional
problems and issues; and
WHEREAS, Walter Scheiber was particularly instrumental in
obtaining federal funding for construction of the Metro system and
for housing programs--both key programs to all area jurisdictions;
and
WHEREAS, he spearheaded the development of joint purchasing
and mutual aid agreements of enormous benefit to the participating
jurisdictions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Fairfax expresses its appreciation and gratitude to him for
his service to the community and wishes him good health and success
in his retirement.
