R-91-13 FAIRFAX COUNTY BUSINESS RECYCLING IMPLEMENTATION PLAN WHEREAS, recycling is an important way to preserve resources and protect the environment, and WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is currently preparing a state- mandated solid waste management plan which includes commercially generated trash that is hauled directly to the County resource recovery facility and landfill, and WHEREAS, businesses must contribute in order to meet the recycling goals of 10 percent by 1991; 15 percent by 1993 and 25 percent by 1995, and WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is funding the County recycling program through direct payment of tipping fees for residential solid waste disposal and through trash disposal fees paid to trash haulers by City businesses, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax that the city Manager be authorized to enter into an agreement with Fairfax County to administer the City's business recycling program in accordance with the plan outlined by the County, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City staff is directed to include this agreement as part of the City's Solid Waste Management Plan.
