LITTER CONTROL ~ RECYCLING Gl~3~-~ APPL'rCATION
WHEREAS, the City Council realizes the importance of
litter control and recycling within the boundaries of the City
of Fairfax, Virginia; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Waste Management Act provides for
the allocation of public funds for the purpose of enhancing
litter control and recycling activities; and
WHEREAS, these funds are provided through the Virginia
Department of Waste Management to Virginia localities by
annual grants; and
WHEREAS, having reviewed and accepted the Guidelines
(Form DLCR-1) for use of said funds;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Fairfax hereby endorses and supports such a
program for the City of Fairfax as is indicated in the
attached Application Form DLCR-2; and
HEREBY authorizes the City Manager to plan, budget and
apply for a Grant which, if approved, will be used to fund
said Program; and
HEREBY requests the Department of Waste Management
Division of Litter Control and Recycling, to consider and
approve said application and Program, said Program being in
accord with the regulations governing use and expenditure of
said funds.
