VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
PREALLOCATION HEARING
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax has a need for certain improve-
ments to its transportation system and that of the surrounding
area; and
WHEREAS, The City of Fairfax continues to support the
construction of sound barriers along 1-66 adjacent to the City's
north boundary; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax requests the addition of a third
northbound lane on Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) from Route 29-50
(Lee Highway) to the VDOT residency office; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax requests the widening of Route
29-50 (Lee Highway) to six lanes with a center landscaped median
between Eaton Place and Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road); and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax has reviewed such proposed
transportation improvements and found them to be in accordance with
its Comprehensive Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia, at its regular meeting on the 10th day of April,
1990, that the statement for the Virginia Department of Transporta-
tion Preallocation Hearing on April 20, 1990, is hereby adopted as
prepared by City staff.
