Resolution Supporting Formation of the Regional
Environmental Policy Committee
WHEREAS, the Board of Director of the Metropolitan
Washington Council of Governments (COG) has recommended the
formation of a regional interdisciplinary Environmental
Policy Committee to guide regional policy formulation and
planning for the Metropolitan Washington region; and
WHEREAS, the functions of the Metropolitan Washington
Water Resources Planning Board, National Capital Interstate
Air Quality Planning Committee, and Energy and Hazardous
Waste Policy Committees will be fully incorporated into the
new Environmental Policy Committee; and
WHEREAS, the COG Water Resources Planning Board at its
January 12, 1989 meeting formally recommended formation of
the Environmental Policy Committee and its own dissolution
upon Environmental Policy Committee formation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Fairfax, Virginia, supports the formation of the
regional Environmental Policy Committee and will designate
its members as requested by the COG Board Chairperson in her
letter of March 16, 1989; and
The City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, agrees
to the termination of the Water Resources Planning Board and
incorporation of its functions into the new Environmental
Policy Committee.
