19890509 r-89-16RESOLUTION NO. R-8.9~16 RESOLUTION TO REQUIRE CITY AND SCHOOL BOARD PROJECTS TO BE PLkNNED AND CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORD WITH REGULATIONS PROVIDED IN THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, CHAPTERS 21 (SUBDIVISION OF LAND) AND 26 (ZONING) WHEREAS, it is an objective of the City Council for the City to set an example by complying with the Code of the City of Fatrfax relating to subdivision of land and zoning; and WHEREAS, the City Council is aware that City and City School Board properties, although legally nonconforming, do not consistently reflect the high standards required by Chapters 21 and 26 of the City of Fairfax Code; and WHEREAS, City Council desires that all future development and renovation of properties owned by the City and the City School Board meet City Code requirements in order to afford opportunities for consistent, aesthetically pleasing municipal projects which meet the Comprehensive Plan's goal to "pursue an attractive distinctive image for the City"; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Fairfax that hereafter all development and renovation projects upon properties owned by the City and the City School Board shall be subject to the requirements of Chapter 21 (Subdivision of Land) and Chapter 26 (Zoning) of the Code of the City of Fairfax. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that exceptions from the requirements of Chapter 21 and Chapter 26 may be granted by the City Council by Special Exception because of hardship or extraordinary circumstances.
