RESOLUTION TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO ALLOW THE
CITY TO PROVIDE FOR PRORATION OF PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES
WHEREAS, proration is an equitable taxing system; and
WHEREAS, proration allows individuals to be taxed on property only during
actual time of ownership; and
WHEREAS, proration of personal property taxes is in effect in surrounding
'localities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax currently is a non-prorating jurisdiction,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Fairfax requests authori-
zation from the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia to allow the
City of Fairfax to take the necessary and appropriate steps to provide for
proration of personal property taxes within the jurisdiction of the City of
Fairfax.
