A RESOLUTION TO ADD TWO REPRESENTATIVES TO THE CITY
OF FAIRFAX COMMISSION FOR WOMEN AND TO CHANGE THE
DATE OF APPOINTMENT FOR ALL TERMS
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. R-8#-3, adopted February lt~, 1988, the City
Council of the City of Fairfax created the City of Fairfax Commission for Women
and by Resolution No. R=86-26, adopted tiuly I, 198G, a member of the City Council
of the City of Fairfax was added as an ex=officio member of the Commission for
Women; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council believe that the Commission for
Women would have greater effectiveness in performing its mandated activities if its
membership was increased from seven regular members to nine regular members and
if the term of appointment of the members of the commission was changed to begin
on tiuly 1st of the year in which the member is appointed and to end on 3une 30th of
the year in which the member's term expires;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council for the City of Fairfax
that the membership of the City of Fairtax Commission for Women be increased
from seven regular members to nine regular members, in addition to the one ex-
officio member from City Council, and that the term of appointment for each
member of the Commission for Women begin on tiuly I of the year in which the
member is appointed and end on 3une 30 of the year in which the member's term
expires;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the expiration of the three-year term of the
members of the Commission for Women be staggered so that the terms of three
members expire each year, and thereby changing the expiration date of the terms of
members due to expire on April 1, 1989 to 3une 30, 1989, the term of members due
to expire on April 1, 1990 to tiune 30, 1990 and the terms of members due to expire
on April I, 1991 to tlune 30, 1991.
