R-88-47 RESOLUTION CREATING A SPECIAL TASK FORCE TO ADDRESS THE NOISE POLLUTION PROBLEM FROM 1-66 CURRENTL¥ BEING EXPERIENCED B ¥SEVERAL RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITIES WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is committed to maintaining the residential character of its neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax considers noise pollution from automobiles along 1-66 to be detrimental to the residential character in subdivisions that are along side the interstate; and WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is committed to investigating all possible remedies to cutting down on the automobile noise pollution from automobiles includ- ing, but not limited to, legislative, city and/or legal solutions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council is establishing a special task force to investigate and evaluate all possible remedies to solving the noise pollution problem currently being experienced by our residential neighborhoods along 1-66. Possible remedies should include, but are not limited to, legislative, legal and/or city solutions. The make-up of the task force should include Delegate Woods, Senator Miller, two members from the City Council and two citizens from the immediately affected areas. Additional members of the task force can be added at the discretion of the group. A preliminary report on the findings should be presented to the City Council within six months from the date of the passage of this resolution. Adopted this 27th day of September ,1988.
