R-88-48 COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA GOVERNOR'S EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVE FAIRFAX CITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Fairfax City Council recognizes the need to expand the learning experiences now available through technology to students in the Fairfax City schools, and WHEREAS, the Fairfax City School Board is eligible for approximately $32,700.00 in subsidized technological equipment through the Governor's Educa- tional Technology Initiative Procurement and Financing Program, and WHEREAS, the Governor's Educational Technology Initiative Procurement and Financing Program provides a vehicle for the purchase and financing of microcomputers, satellite receiver dishes and associated equipment at a sub- stantial savings to participating localities, and WHEREAS, the Fairfax City School Board has requested the approval of the Fairfax City Council to participate in this program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Fairfax City Council that it does hereby authorize the City Manager tosign the Memorandum of Agreement between Fairfax City and the Department of Education authorizing participation in the Governor's Educational Technology Initiative Procurement and Financing Program for the purchase and financing of approximately $32,700 O0 of subsidy eligible equipment, and ' BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager of Fairfax City is hereby authorized to transmit the Letter of Agreement to the Department of Education on behalf of this Council.
