A RESOLUTION CREATING A STEERING COMMITTEE
TO OVERSEE THE REVITALIZATION OF THE DOWNTOWN
HISTORIC AREA OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is committed to the revitalization of the down-
town historic area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that it is essential to involve represent-
atives from the business community, the University and the citizens in the develop-
ment process in an effort to obtain a consensus plan; and
WHEREAS, the development of a consensus plan for the revitalization of the
downtown area is a priority of this City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a Special Citizen Steering Com-
mittee is hereby created to oversee the development of a revitalization plan for the
downtown historic area;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Steering Committee should be made up
of the following representatives:
· One representative from George Mason University (appointed by GMU)
· One representative from the Chamber of Commerce (appointed by the
organization)
· One representative from the Old Town Fairfax Business Association (ap-
pointed by the organization)
· One representative from Historic Fairfax City, Inc. (appointed by the
organization)
· Two representatives from the City Council (appointed by Council)
· Two representatives from the Planning Commission (appointed by the
Planning Com mission)
· Four representatives from the affected business land owners (appointed by
the business owners ad hoc committee)
· One representative from the Courthouse Square Civic Association (ap-
pointed by the Mayor)
· One representative from the Southeast Civic Association (appointed by the
Mayor)
· One representative from the Mews (appointed by the Mayor)
· One representative from the Triangle (appointed by the Mayor)
· One representative from the Old Lee Highway Civic Association (ap-
pointed by the Mayor)
· One representative from the Ardmore Civic Association (appointed by the
Mayor)
· Three citizens at large (appointed by the Mayor)
