WHEREAS, the Fairfax City Council has established that a bond referendum
related to the construction of a one-way pair traffic system along the Chain Bridge
Road/University Drive corridor shall be presented to the voters; and
WHEREAS, the technical and social aspects of the one-way pair project are
complex and controversial; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires that citizens be provided with as much
supportable data as possible so that they can make an informed decision;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
1. There is hereby created a body to be called "The 1987 Road Bond
Issue Information Task Force";
2. The Task Force shall produce a document containing the pros and
cons associated with the one-way pair project, and whatever
additional supporting data deemed by the Task Force to be
necessary for effective citizen evaluation;
3. The Task Force shall complete its work so as to produce the above-
described document no later than September 15, 1987; and
4. The Task Force shall be comprised of nine City residents, appointed
as follows:
· One appointed by the Mayor and by each member of the Council,
· One appointed by the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce,
· One appointed by the City's civic associations.
