R-87-44 WHEREAS, Historic Fairfax City, Inc. was created to promote and preserve the rich historical heritage ot the City of Fairfax; and WHEREAS, Historic Fairfax City, Inc. has been extremely successful in preserving and renovating the Old Town Hall and Earps Ordinary; and WHEREAS, the Board of Historic Fairfax City, Inc. desires to establish a more specific statement of purpose in order to better address its future challenges of preserving the City's historical heritage; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, does hereby endorse the attached Historic Fairfax City, Inc.'s Board's proposed Statement of Purpose; and BE 1T FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council endorse the Board's proposal to expand the Board to 15 members. Adopted this 17th day of November 1987. ATTEST: " R-87-44 It shall be the purpose of HISTORIC FAIRFAX CITY, INC.: 1. To cultivate public support for the preservation and restora- tion of old amd historic buildings in the City of Fairfax both publicly and privately owned. 2. To offer advice and counsel to the City of Fairfa× regarding the historic aspects of the City and serve as an advocacy group on historic matters. 3. To further public interest through education and participation in the heritage of 'the City by promoting events pertaining to historic interest. 4. To develop a collection of artifacts, photographs, books, etc. that will be available for display and form the nucleus of a City Museum. .. 5- To make available financial assistance from time to time to complement projects undertaken by the City or other projects which have historic significance. 6. To recommend a policy for the use and operation of publicly owned historic buildings. 7. To make recommendations regarding the improvement to publicly owned old City buildings as from time to time these projects are suggested. It shall further be our purpose to offer membership to any citizen, group or business and encourage their participation in all activities of the HFC and form associations with other organiza- tions with interest such as ours.
