19860701 r-86-26RESOLUTION NO. R-86-26 A RESOLUTION EXPANDING THE CITY OF FAIRFAX COMMISSION FOR WOMEN TO INCLUDE A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE MEMBERS OF CITY COUNCIL. WHEREAS, by Resolution No. R-84-3, adopted February 14, 1984, the City Council created the City of Fairfax Commission for Women and charged it with the following responsibilities: 1. To advise the Mayor and City Council on matters relating to problems affecting women in the City of Fairfax, 2. To re-enforce and support existing human services in matters affecting the status of women in the City of Fairfax, 3. To investigate, to the best extent possible, the problems facing all women in today's changing society, 4. To facilitate communication between all members of the community, 5. To carry out such other functions as directed by the Mayor and City Council that may further the purpose of this resolution; and WHEREAS the Mayor and City Council believe that communication between the Commission for Women and the City Council would be enhanced and the effectiveness of the Commission for Women would be increased, if a member of City Council were appointed as an ex officio member of the Commission; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council for the City of Fairfax that the membership of the City of Fairfax Commission for Women be increased to include, in addition to its seven regular members, a member of City Council to sit with the Commission ex officio. The ex officio member shall be appointed by the Council for a term of one year which shall run from July 1st to June 30th, but shall not be entitled to vote with the Commission, shall not be counted to establish a quorum and shall not hold any office on the Commission.
