WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax recognizes that there is a critical need
for highway construction projects in Northern Virginia and throughout the
Commonwealth of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax recognizes that an increase in available
funds is necessary to help meet these highway construction needs;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City of Fairfax concurs
with the recommendation of the Governor's Commission on Transportation in
the 21st Century for a one cent sales tax increase with the provision that
25 percent of the proposed one cent sales tax increase be returned to
Virginia's citieS, counties and towns for general use.
