WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is a participant with other local jurisdictions in
the Washingtor~ Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's (WMATA) construction of the
Metrorail system; and
'WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is eontemolating the extension of its intra-eity
CUE bus system to provide service for City residents to the Nutlev Road Metrorail
Station; and ·
WHEREAS, by rendering this service the City will be 0roviding additional riders
needed to insure the success of the Metrorail System; and
WHEREAS, this service reduces the need for on site oarking; and
WHEREAS, construction of the Metrorail station is funded, in Dart, by the City
of Fairfax; and
WHEREAS, because of its funding assistance the City considers itself a ~)artner
in this effort with WMATA;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The City Council of the City of Fairfax hereby requests that the Board of
Directors of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority allow access and
use of the bus bays at the Nutley Road Metrorail station by the City of Fairfax CUE
bus service, and that such use be at no additional charge to the City, and that the
City receive prompt assurance that such access and use will be allowed.
