RESOLUTION NO. R-85-18
A RESOLUTION REJECTING ALL PROPOSALS TO PURCHASE THE
FAIRFAX ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROPERTY AND DIRECTING THAT
THERE BE NEGOTIATION WITH AN OFFEROR
WHEREAS, pursuant to the mandate of this Council, the City Manager of
the City of Fairfax, Virginia, has advertised for andreceived proposals for
the p~mchase of the property known as the Fairfax Elementary School, con-
taining 1.981 acres, being Lot 1 of the subdivision of Tax M~ap 57-4-((2))
138, and
WHEREAS, these proposals were publicly opened and read on August 30,
1985, and each has been evaluated by this Council and staff, and
WHEREAS, this Council has determined that it would not be in the best
interests o£ the City to accept any of the proposals as submitted;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax
that all of the proposals for the purchase of the Fairfax Elementary School
property be rejected and that the invitation for the submission of proposals,
dated June 24, 1985, he and hereby is terminated.
AND WHEREAS this Council still believes that it would be in the best
interests of the City to sell the Fairfax Elementary School property;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that representatives of the City, as
hereafter designated, shall forthwith enter into negotiations with Robert
J. Lewis whose bid comes closest to meeting the criteria of the City.
