R-85-26 RESOLUTION CONCERNING THROUGH TRUCK TRAFFIC PROHIBITION ON BLAKE LANE WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Plan adopted by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on Sevtember 8, 1975, as amended, states, in Dart: "The Blake/Pickett connection should not be comr)leted and Fairfax County should ovpose the widening of Blake Lane unless . . . through trucks are prohibited · ·. along the Pickett Road connection from Route 50 to Route 29", and WHEREAS, Fairfax County proposes to fund the Blake Lane Project, includin~ the Route 50 to Route 29 segment, subject to passage of its 1985 Road Bond Refer' endum, and WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax has expressed its support for the Blake Lane Project and Droposed to use its authority to prohibit the movement of through truck traffic on the segment of the completed Project within the City, between Route 50 and Route 29, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that upon completion of the Blake Lane Project, approDriate signing will be installed in both the City and County for the l>rohibition of through truck traffic movement on that portion'of the Project within the City of Fairfax, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager will direct the City staff to coordinate with Fairfax County and the Virffinia Department of Highways and Transportation to ensure the installation of the OroDosed signs in both the City and County prior to the oDening of the Route 50 to Route 29 segment of the Blake Lane Project.
