In Opposition of H.R. 4103
the House Energy and commerce Committee will be
considering a bill (H.R. 4103) to regulate muni-
cipal authority over cable television franchises
and
the House Telecommunication subcommittee has
strongly supported H.R. 4103 which is strongly
in favor of cable operators; and
the City of Fairfax has recently awarded a cable
television franchise; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is greatly concerned with the
proposed ~eductionof its authority to deal with
its franchisee;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of
Fairfax, virginia is:
opposed to House Bill H.R. 4103 as currently
written;
® opposed to any legislation reducing its
authority to deal with its cable televi-
sion franchisee:
· in favor of all goals established by the
National League of cities' resolution ~26

Consumer interests in Cable Legislation"
