A Resolution of the City of Fairfax, Virginia
Supporting Legislation to Require State
Agencies to Follow Local Zoning
And Subdivision Ordinances
WHEREAS, state owned properties are presently exempt from local
government zoning and subdivision controls, and;
WHEREAS, such exemption has caused unnecessary and undue harm to the
development of localities in the state, and;
WHEREAS, it is advantageous to the land development process of
communities throughout the state that state organizations abide by the
local land use regulations, and;
WHEREAS, it is recognized that there be a procedure whereby legitimate
differences of opinion between the state and local governments can be
resolved.
NOW BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Fairfax does hereby support the attached legislation proposed by
Senator Michie accomplishing the above listed goals and encourages its
enactment into law.
