CITY OF FAIRFAX
RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE
POTOmaC EMBAYMENT STANDARDS
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax receives wastewater treatment
services under a contract agreement with the County of Fairfax;
SHEREAS,the cost of these services has been increasing expon-
ly due to the excessively stringent requirements 6f the State
Control Board's Embayment Standards; and,
WHEREAS, the County of Fairfax has been epposed to implemen-
of the Potomac Embayment Standards until they have been
ly substantiated and justified on the basis of scientific, cc-
, social, and environmental values; and,
WHEREAS, the County of Fairfax has repeatedly requested that
zhe State Water Control Board provide less stringent interim dis-
· e standards until a full analysis of the Embayment Standards
be completed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
)f Fairfax that the City of Fairfax supports the position of
~airfax County concerning the Potomac Embayment Standards and
requests the State Water Control Board to take action to
enforcement of the Potomac Embayment Standards indefinitely
~nd adopt less stringent interim discharge standards.
