RESOLUTION CREATING PUBLIC INFORMATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
'0[/HEREAS, public awareness is of considerable importance to this Council; and
WHEREAS, an effective public information program is vital to enhance public
awareness and citizen involvement in City services and activities; and
WHEREAS, an effective public information program is the first step to improving
community pride; and
WHEREAS, the best way to develop and monitor an effective public information
program is through citizen input; and
WHEREAS, the Fairfax City Council is dedicated to the concept of a Public In-
formation program independent of political influence,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT;
1. That this Council is creating with this resolution a Public Information Advisory
Board charged with the responsibility of reviewing the public information role in the
City government, as well as, acting in an advisory capacity on policy issues to the
City Council and City Manager in a comprehensive effort to develop those programs
that will enhance community spirit, pride, and encourage greater citizen involve-
ment.
2. The Public Information Advisory Committee shall consist of five (5) citizens at
large selected by the Council each serving through June, 198% and one (1) Council
member shall serve as an ex-officio member.
