19810317 r-81-2RESOLUTION NO. R-1981-2 FEDERAL PAVEMENT MARKING DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM WHEREAS, The U. S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, under Title 23 of the U. S. Code in Volume B, Chapter 2, Section 1, of the Federal-Aid Highway Program Manual offer a Pavement Marking Demonstration Program to improve the pavement marking of all highways and to demonstrate the value of high-type markings for vehicle and pedestrian safety, and WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax has need in upgrading the existing pavement markings and/or applying the high-type marking to streets, and WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax acknowledges the City's responsibility in the reporting requirements as outlined in the FHWA Federal-Aid Program Manual, Volume 8, Chapter 2, Section 1, dated May 5, 1978, and WHEREAS, this program is to be administered through the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation and funded with 100% Federal funds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Fairfax requests the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation to program and administer a Pavement Marking Demonstration Project not to exceed $100,000.00 in the City of Fairfax to provide "High-type" pavement marking on selected streets as shown on the attached list.
