Utilization of State Aid for Locally
Funded Public Transportation Capital Projects
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE City Council of Fairfax, Virginia,
that the City Manager is authorized, for and on behalf of the
City of Fairfax, to execute and file an application to the
Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation, Commonwealth
of Virginia, for a grant of transportation special revenues,
Chapter 760, budget item 640.0 of the 1980 Acts of the General
Assembly, for financing ninety-five percent of the capital costs
related to the development, implementation, and promotion of
mass transportation projects approved by the Commission and to
accept from the Virginia Department of Highways and Transporta-
tion grants in such amount as may be awarded; and to authorize
the City Manager to furnish to the Virginia Department of
Highways and Transportation such documents and other information
as may be required for processing the grant request.
The City Council of Fairfax, Virginia, certifies that the
funds shall be used in accordance with the requirements of the
Appropriations Act; that the record of receipts and expenditure
of funds granted to the City of Fairfax as authorized by the
Acts of the General Assembly (Chapter 760, appropriation
item 640.0) may be subject to audit by the Department of Highways
and Transportation and by the State Auditor of Public Accounts;
and that the funds granted to the City of Fairfax for the
capital expenses of the mass transportation program of the City
of Fairfax shall be used only for such purposes as authorized
in the Acts of the General Assembly.
