RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING
THE FAIRFAX CITY COMMISSION ON THE ARTS
WHEREAS, the people of our City have demonstrated their interest in and
support for local artistic endeavors by their attendance and participation
therein, and
WHEREAS, there exists within our City a reservoir of artistic talent
that is valuable and appropriate to cultivate, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of Fairfax City to establish an official body
to encourage, to promote and to provide opportunity for artistic expression
within our City; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that
1. There be established as of the date of this resolution a body to
be known as "The Fairfax City Commission on the Arts," and
2. The Commission shall~be composed of six (6) members, each of
whom shall serve three-year terms - except that upon appointment
of the original members two (2) shall be chosen by lot to serve
two-year terms, and two (.2) shall be chosen by lot to serve one-year
terms, and
3. The Commission shall serve as the focal point for the alloca-
tion of City funds for purposes of artistic encouragement, and shall
present to the City Council, in November of each year, an annual
report and a budget for activities deemed by the Commission to be
worthy of encouragement.
