R-79-18 RESOLUTION CONTINUING THE CITY/GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY/BUSINESS COMMUNITY COMMITTEE WHEREAS, on February 6, 1979 the City Council established the City/George University/Business Community Committee to report and make recommendations on the relationships and roles of the community and the university, and WHEREAS, George Mason University continues to be a valuable resource in its associations with the City of Fairfax and the City's business community, and WHEREAS, George Mason University's growth and diverse programs are of great potential value to the City of Fairfax, its citizens and the business community, and WHEREAS, the City/George Mason University/Business Community Committee on July IO, 1979 published its "Report and Recommendations to the Fairfax City Council" outlining long and short-range recommendations to improve and enhance the quality of life for the community and the university, and WHEREAS, the Committee recommended that consideration be given to estab- I sh it as a standing body in order to continue and expand upon the dialogue between the City, the University and the Business Community, now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Committee membership is extended for an indefinite term with its membership to be continued as outlined in Resolution R-79-1, and that meetings of the Committee will be held upon the call of the Chairman or at least once a year, and be it FURTHER RESOLVED that the Committee is responsible for monitoring the im- )lementation of the recommendations outlined in its July 10, 1979 report to the Cty Council. Additonally, the Committee shall annually assess any physical, social and environmental changes that affect the cooperative relationship between the community and the university.
