WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax, Virginia will assume control of its
own Fire and Rescue Service on May 1, 1978; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax and the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Company
desire to provide the best possible fire protection and rescue service within
the City and to Fairfax County upon request; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the provision of fire and/or
rescue or ambulance service across jurisdictional lines in emergencies will
increase the ability to preserve the safety and welfare of the area's residents
and
WHEREAS, under the auspices of the Metropolitan Washington Council
of Governments a Mutual Aid Agreement for Fire and/or Rescue or Ambulance
Service is being carried out;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Fairfax hereby
petitions the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and its member
political jurisdictions for acceptance into the Mutual Aid Agreement for
Fire and/or Rescue or Ambulance Service.
