CITY/COUNTY COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the Fairfax City and County Negotiating Teams have
completed their assigned tasks regarding the negotiation of service contracts
between the two jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, mutual City/County problems may occur in future years; and
WHEREAS, more can be accomplished in resolving our problems and in
proposing solutions to them if we continue to communicate with each other; and
WHEREAS, a need may arise for joint City/County positions on matters
of regional importance; and
WHEREAS, during the recent negotiations a spirit of cooperativeness
and understanding of the perspectives of each jurisdiction was fostered and
developed; and
WHEREAS, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors recently reappointed
their negotiating team representatives to the City/County Committee and
announced their desire to communicate directly at the policy level with the
City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Councilman Lee H. Wigren,
Councilman John P. Perrin, and Councilman William T. Scott, Jr., are hereby
appointed as the City representatives on the City/County Committee and are
charged with maintaining positive communications with their County counterparts
on the City/County Committee.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Councilman Wigren will serve as the
City's committee chairman and that these appointments supersede all previous
City appointments to the City/County Committee and will continue until modified
by City Council
