RESOLUTION NO. 1978-15
RESOLUTION EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO CITY ATTORNEY JOHN H. RUST, JR.
FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE CITY OF FAIRFAX
WHEREAS, John H. Rust, Jr., was appointed City Attorney on August 6, 1974; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rust diligently and expertly furnished the City Council, the School
Board, the Planning Commission, the Board of Architectural Review, and other public bodies
with timely and accurate guidance in matters related to municipal law; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rust provided outstanding legal representation for the City in the
litigation of diverse and complex personnel, transportation, and land use matters; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rust furnished timely and practical legal advice to the City Manager
and the City staff; and
WHEREAS, Mr, Rust gave freely of his time during normal off-duty periods to
ensure that residents of the City of Fairfax received all possible public services due them
under the laws of the City and the Commonwealth of Virginia,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Fairfax City Council acknowledges its
deep appreciation of Mr. Rust's exceptional service to the City as City Attorney and on
behalf of the public and the City staff thanks Mr. Rust for his devoted service.
