19770712 r-77-13RESOLUTION NO. R-77-13 A RESOLUTION URGING PARTICIPATION IN THE CITY'S VOLUNTARY NEWSPAPER RECYCLING PROGRAM. WHEREAS, technological progress in manufacturing and marketing of consumer products has resulted in continuing increases in the mass of material discarded by purchasers of such products; and WHEREAS, that failure to reuse some waste materials depletes our natural resources and damages the environment; and WHEREAS, the available space for disposing of solid waste material is necessarily finite and diminishing each year; and WHEREAS, it is in the interests of the City of Fairfax to promote the reuse of waste materials that can be economically recycled; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the City of Fairfax establishes a voluntary newspaper recycling program to consist of bi-weekly home curbside pickup of newspapers and the continued operation of the Pickett Road recycling center; and That the City Council does hereby urge all residents to participate in the newspaper recycling program by availing themselves of the appropriate means to dispose of waste newspapers provided to them; and That the City Council requests the support, ideas and knowledge of the Community Appearance Committee to aid in publicizing this worth- while program.
