WHEREAS, the Virginia Electric and Power Company has
requested a rate increase for electricity above and beyond 25%
of the currently charged rate; and
WHEREAS, the Northern Virginia Ad Hoc Committee on Public
Utilities, with representation from all Northern Virginia juris-
dictions, has decided to file an intervention to the proposed
rate increase~ and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fairfax has
previously been on record supporting such an intervention;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Fairfax
will participate in funding an intervention by the Northern Virginia
Ad Hoc Committee on Public Utilities provided that the following
conditions are met:
1. A majority of Northern Virginia jurisdictions participate
in the funding and support of this intervention.
2. All costs incurred by the Committee for the intervention
will be apportioned on a population percentage basis;
3. .The total funding required by the City of Fairfax will
not exceed $2,100 and is allocated from Account 1999-90
(Contingency Reserve) to Account 101-44 (VEPCO Rate
Increase Intervention).
ADDITIONALLY, the City of Fairfax recognizes that the
County of Fairfax will serve as the fiscal agent on behalf of
the participating jurisdictions.
