WHEREAS the burglary rate in the non-residential areas of the
City of Fairfax increased 84 percent in 1974, with 176 burglaries
that year compared to 95 in 1973; and
WHEREAS prevention is the best possible deterrent to burglaries;
and education at the community level is essential to burglary
prevention;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that
the City of Fairfax endorses the work of the City Chamber of Commerce
in crime prevention, in particular the publication of an educational
check-list for distribution to the business/professional community;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that
the City of Fairfax encourages the business/professional community
to be alert to burglary prevention check-list suggestions and to
avail themselves of the security inspections offered by the City
Police to enhance this effort to prevent burglaries in our City.
